Sonmarg, meaning Meadow of Gold, is a tranquil destination in Kashmir situated amidst lakes and glaciers. The specialty of Sonmarg is Thajiwas Glacier, where scenes of several Bollywood movies have been shot. Several food joints and establishments are also established here where you can enjoy authentic Kashmiri food. This place can be best visited during Summers.

Gulmarg, meaning Meadow of Flowers, is a ski resort and one of the most popular tourist destination in India. Gulmarg is surrounded by evergreen forest, snow-covered mountains, and lush-green meadows which make this place even more tempting. You can enjoy trekking, skiing, mountaineering, etc. here. However, beware of touts and expensive pony riders.



Pahalgam

Pahalgam, meaning the Valley of Shepherds, is popular as an adventurous tourist destination among visitors. You can enjoy golfing, fishing, river rafting, and trekking here. However, private vehicles are only allowed to a certain point here and from there on, tourists can hire local transport. Avoid visiting this place in July because it is heavily crowded with the devotees visiting Amarnath.

Sinthan is a mountain pass located at a height of 12,000 feet in Breng Valley of Kashmir. This place is still undeveloped so you can enjoy the true form of nature here. Tourists can enjoy trekking and other outdoor activities here. However, this place is not for weak-hearted people since the roads are curvy and rusty.

Home to exotic wildlife, Kupwara is comprised of rocky mountains, dense forests, and shimmering rivers. Here you can visit Lolab Valley, Bangus Valley, Sattbarran Kalaroos, Seemab Valley, and Chandigham. Trees of apples, walnut, cherry, and peach are spread all over. Different species of plants, birds, and animals are also found here.
