With great mythological significance, Ramanathaswamy Temple is situated in the center of Tamil Nadu. As per the legends, the temple was established by Lord Rama himself, and it is also one of the most revered Char Dhams. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is immensely crowded during Maha Shivratri. This temple also has two lingams, i.e., Ramalingam and VIswalingam, which was bought by Lord Hanuman on Lord Rama’s order.
Pamban Bridge is the first sea link in India and is the major tourist attraction of Tamil Nadu. Until 1998, the Pamban bridge was the only way to reach Rameswaram. This bridge is designed in such a way that the central portion of the bridge can be opened up to allow ferries movement. Ferries can be hired on shores to enjoy the mesmerizing view of this bridge.
Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in honor and memory of Indian spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda. In 1892, Vivekananda visited Rameswaram and meditated for two days to attain enlightenment before leaving for Chicago. A permit to built a memorial over this rock was passed in 1963. Apart from this, it is also said that Goddess Devi Kumari blessed this rock.
Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s Bridge is a chain of limestone shoals between Rameshwaram and Mannar Island, Sri Lanka. As per the legends, Lord Rama and Hanuman built this bridge to rescue Sita who was abducted by Ravan. It is also known as Nala Setu and Setu Banda, However, this bridge is underwater now, so visitors can’t see it.

VIlloondi Tirtham is a sacred water body in Rameshwaram and one of the major tourist attractions. It is said that Lord Rama created this sweet water body here after returning from Sri Lanka after rescuing his wife Sita. The word “Villoondi” means place pierced by arrow and “Tirtham” means sacred water.
