The pride and soul of Sikhs, Golden Temple is the major religious and tourist point in Amritsar. The gurdwara is also known as Shri Harmandir Sahib is one of the holiest places of Sikhs, and it attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. The gurdwara is surrounded by Amrit Sarovar where pilgrims can sit and relax. The beauty of this sacred place is at its peak during the evening when it starts glowing in different colors. It remains open on all days.



Wagah Border

Wagah Border is a road border crossing between India and Pakistan and is one of the major tourist attractions in Amritsar, Punjab. Wagah Border is famous for its Beating Retreat Ceremony, which includes closing on international gates, changing of guards, and lowering of flags. This ceremony takes place every day and a huge number of tourists attend this ceremony.



Jallianwala Bagh

Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial to a massacre that took place in April 1919. On Punjabi New Year Day, the British Army brutally killed 379 people and wounded more than 1000, who were gathered in this park for a peaceful congregation. The park remains open on all days from 06:30 am to 07:30 pm.

Harike Wetland or Hari Ke Pattan is one of the largest wetlands in Northern India, and it was created as a result of the diversion created for Sutlej river. October to February is the best time to visit this wetland when a lot of migratory birds are found here including hawk, yellow-crowned woodpecker, white-winged tern, brown-headed gull, and Indian skimmer. This place is no less than a paradise for bird watchers during winters.



Akal Takht

Built in the premises of Golden Temple by Guru Hargobind Sahib, this place is considered to be the highest authority of Khalsa. The meaning of the word Akal Takht is “Throne of the Immortal,” and it is the chief center of Sikhism. Visited by Sikhs in large number, it represents the glory, heritage, and history of the Sikh community.



Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum

Dedicated to the Lion of Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, this museum displays artifacts, paintings, weapons, miniatures, and several other things. Movies on Maharaja Ranjit Singh and other Sikh warriors are also projected here. The museum remains open from 09:00 am to 06:00 pm on all days except Monday and public holidays.
