The climate of Darjeeling is moderate throughout the year so, it can be visited at any time of the year. The climate of Darjeeling is categorized into three types: 

  1. Summer - April-June

Darjeeling experiences a mild temperature throughout the whole summer season. The temperature at this time of the month hovers around 25°C. Summer is the best time of the year for sightseeing and enjoying outdoor activities. Summers are the perfect blend of bright sunlight and cool breeze in Darjeeling, which offers a memorable and satisfying vacation to every visitor. There are a number of places which can be explored only in Summers in Darjeeling such as Tiger Hill, Tenzing Rock, Dali Monastery, and the Ghoom Monasteries. 

  1. Winter - October-March

Snowfall marks the beginning of winters in Darjeeling with which a steady chill descends over the valley of Darjeeling. October to March offers a spectacular view of snow capped mountains. Darjeeling is the perfect destination for honeymooners and newly-weds, who want some alone and special time with their loved ones. The temperature in winter usually varies from 11°C to 2°C. If you are visiting specially for snow, that you will need to go towards higher altitudes such as Tumling and Sandakphu. 

  1. Monsoon - July-September

Monsoon arrives in Darjeeling with heavy rainfall and frequent landslides. Hilly areas are usually closed in Darjeeling during rainfall due to road blockage. Tourists are not recommended to visit Darjeeling at this time of the year due to safety issues. However, unlike other months, July, August, and September receives the least number of tourists in Darjeeling, which means that you can visit this place without any crowd or inconvenience.
